What is the meaning of DPF?
DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter. This filter is fitted to exhaust system of the vehicle and it looks like a catalytic converter. The filter works for removing diesel particulate matter or soot and function of DPF in the vehicle is to produce cleaner exhaust gases because of pollute environment less.
Diesel Particulate Filter is designed to do good but unfortunately, at the same time many people will know that, it DPF cause more trouble things. Because when the time is moving on, DPF filter is getting lose its functionality. So it causes trouble instead of good.
As any type of filter needs, Particulate Filter needs to be cleaned periodically to keep working as expected from a filter. The cleaning process of the Diesel Particulate Filter has a known the technical term that is called regeneration. This cleaning process is done by burning the soot, that is in the Diesel Particulate Filter, to a very high temperature and this process must be combination of this burning activity.
Regeneration process should be done by taking place in your normal use of vehicle. Did you even see that white some from the exhaust of a vehicle? It is totally regeneration.
Diesel Particulate Filter is use in our life for cars and light commercials from around 2003. In this DPF is prepared commonly for Euro 4 regs (2005) by the year early takers that are Peugeot, Renault and BMW.
For diesel cars and light commercials, being fitted a Diesel Particulate Filter is made obligatory with Euro 5 (2009) and with Euro 6 (2009) this obligation is tighten up further.
Several Problems when DPF is being used
If regeneration process doesn’t work properly as expected, it causes soot in the exhaust system that is affecting performance and fuel consumption.
When the working of regenerations is left unattended, it causes a blocked DPF and the blocked DPF causes very expensive damage to engine components of vehicle. At the same time a blocked DPF is potentially fire risk because of overheating in the exhaust system. But this danger is pretended in most new car by the manufacturer producing vehicles with “limp home” safety mode. When the danger is detected, the car will go limp home safety mode and is working by using minimum power.
If you want to do regeneration, it is quite simple to do. You must drive regularly at some speed on open road, for instance driving should be on motorway and at around 2500 RPM approximately 30 minutes. You should repeat this routine at least once a month. What does re-mapping mean?
ECU (Electronic Control Unit) remapping is actually the modern state of “chipping” technology that’s known between 1980’s and 1990’s.
What does ECU mean?
ECU stands for Electronic Control Unit. This technology is being added to all vehicles since 1999. Electronic Control Unit is manufactured as an onboard computer to all vehicles by the manufacturer.
What does Electronic Control Unit do in the vehicle, actually?
Both of monitoring and controlling of the ignition timing, fuelling, air intake, and boost pressure of an engine is the mission of the Electronic Control Unit and all of parameters of them are pre-programmed by the manufacture.
Electronic Control Unit is programmed by the manufacturer in the factory and it provides us to allow for build tolerances into their engines and to over comply with emission standards.
All kinds of climate conditions are considered when Electronic Control Unit is designed. It is set to withstand operation in extreme environments. Some countries may have sub-standard fuel quality instead of standard fuel quality and Electronic Control Unit cope with that problem, too.
At the same time allowing for some owner’s sub-standard service intervals and driving are set by the Electronic Control Unit.
By using ECU remapping, you can change the parameters that’s came within the Electronic Control Unit and result of this processes are much more responsive, full efficient and the vehicle that has much smoother running.

Which vehicles can be done ECU re-mapping?
Whatever your vehicle is fitted with a turbo system or not, you can apply ECU re-mapping. But if your vehicle is fitted with a turbo system, benefit of the ECU re-mapping is the most. But if you have a vehicle , that’s has normally aspirated engine, power increase can be from up to 15%

One of the most important features that should not be forgotten is that you have to be careful with the tools to be programmed. Definitely should be a backup.
Tools in today's technology have also changed vehicles. If we want to talk about this change, the most important ones are vehicle brains. Although the vehicle brains are mechanically designed, they also contain programs thanks to their chipss. There are different brain structures for each vehicle during production. At this point each vehicle is produced as a normal package. In this respect, the vehicle is programmed with certain restrictions on the brains. For example, new or untreated vehicles have a certain torque limit. This limit can not be exceeded. But in vehicles with chiptuning program you can raise this limit and get even more fun. The vehicles normally come in a pack. This package is the normal performance of that vehicle. For this reason, the tools may need to power up. One is over OBD port. OBD is an communication port. It gives information about the engine like fuel level, error codes etc… First you have to give 12V to car battery then you need to connect OBD socket. Over OBD socket your ECU will be flashed. This is the easiest method. You will be done in just 30 minutes.
One of the other way is that over BDM. You need to take ECU out of your vehicle to use BDM port. BDM port is the most reliable one becuase you can supply 12V to your ECU easliy. Also with BDM you can take backups of your ECU rom. After taking ECU out of yoru vehicle and connecting it to an BDM port, you can easily flash it.
If you vehicle does not support any of this dont worry there are still ways to do it. You can flash it by booting to boot mode. First you need to take ECU out of your vehicle and the nwhitch special cables and equipment you can boot into boot mode and flash it. You vehicle motherboard may need some resistors to added to work properly.
For older cars you can solder EEPROM chip. This mostly done for old vehicles that does not support OBD, BDM or boot mode. You need to flash an EEPROM chip and replace your ECU EEPROM chip. This need desoldering. This is the last resolt and mostly done on very old vehicles.
Vehicles after 2009 does not support OBD and BDM port. Because of this booting into boot mode is mostly used. If done by a professional chip tuner it is very safe.
